CP Summer ‘26 Wrapped

The Ultimate Rewind

As the Connelly Partners Summer ’26 intern semester wraps up, we’re reflecting on the invaluable insights our class brought to the team. With members across media, creative, copywriting, and new business, our office has been full of energy and synergy. And since music is a foundational part of our integrated, fast-paced agency, we found it only fitting to give it a soundtrack.

Top “Genres” Played

My time at CP gave me the opportunity to build a new skill set through my experience in the media department. I strengthened my audience research skills by using Resonate and MRI-Simmons to identify consumer insights and better understand target audiences, which led to some of my favorite research projects this summer. I also learned how invoices are processed, media is trafficked, and budget sheets are updated, giving me a better understanding of the work that goes into bringing a media plan to life. Additionally, I developed a sharper eye for detail by reviewing data, presentation decks, and other client-facing deliverables. Coming from a strategy background, my biggest area of growth was learning how research and insights shape media strategy across different clients.

On Repeat

One of my favorite things about interning at Connelly Partners was that no two days were the same. The projects I worked on challenged me creatively and forced me to become a more strategic thinker as I developed new technical design skills. While the range of clients kept things interesting, my day-to-day often looked like this: reviewing creative briefs, interpreting client feedback, versioning out rounds of edits,  designing a wide range of deliverables (from digital banners to vehicle wraps), and attending agency-wide meetings that covered AI, documentary filmmaking, and, of course, Shazaming songs from the shared company playlist!

The Skipped Track

Don’t dive into work without reading the full brief – whoops.

When you get a new project, it’s tempting to open the brief, skim it, and jump straight into the work. But that makes it easy to read what you want to see rather than what’s actually there. Every detail matters, especially as a copywriter. The target audience, tone, key message, deliverables, and word count can completely change your approach.

Having learned from this mistake, I take a few minutes to break the brief down. I highlight the key information, make sure I understand exactly what’s being asked, and keep it beside me as I work. It might feel like extra time upfront, but I’ve found it saves me a lot of time later.

Song of the Summer

As part of the New Business team at CP, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide spectrum of creative and strategic initiatives. Each project was unique and gave me an in-depth understanding of diverse organizations at a level I had never experienced before. Alongside this, I had the privilege of collaborating cross-functionally with team members across CP (some pretty cool people). While every project brought something distinct to the table, our work for a youth-centered non-profit was a true standout. Having always been passionate about mission-driven organizations, I enjoyed contributing behind the scenes and taking a hands-on role in our final output. Watching an idea evolve from dynamic concepts at my desk into a tangible, high-impact public experience that will be used by the organization was undeniably my proudest moment of the semester.
